Traventhal. / 53.89889°N 10.31889°E / 53.89889; 10.31889. Traventhal is a municipality in the district of Segeberg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It gave name to the Peace of Travendal treaty signed there in 1700.
By the terms of the Treaty of Travendal signed 18 Aug 1700, Denmark returned Schleswig to the duke of Holstein-Gottorp - a Swedish ally - and agreed not to fight against Sweden. The Danes only reentered the war after Charles had suffered a major defeat by the Russians at the Battle of Poltava in 1709.
