These days, the Olympiastadion is one of Munich’s modern-day landmarks. In the summer of 1972, the arena provided the backdrop to various sporting battles, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies for the Olympic Games. Two years later, the German football team also defeated the Netherlands in the final of the World Cup in July 1974.

You can also go up the 291-metre high Olympic Tower for a view over the stadium from above. The stadium opens from 9:00 am (11:00 am in the winter months) and closes at 4:00 pm (6:00 or 8:00 pm in the summer months). Check online for current guided tour dates and bookings.
