  1. Mary of Burgundy was born on February 13, 1457, in Brussels, Burgundian Netherlands, to Charles the Bold and Isabella of Bourbon. Her father was also known as the Count of Charolais. It was her father’s second marriage; he did not have a child from his first marriage.

  2. Mary of Burgundy died on March 27, 1482, with her husband and children nearby. She was 25 years old. Some believe she was pregnant with her fourth child at the time of her death. Maximilian grieved publicly for her, and did not remarry for many years. Mary was buried at the church of Our Lady of Bruges.

Adolph of Cleves, a cousin of Mary’s, had organized the hunt and no doubt felt intensely upset at the death of the young woman. Mary died on 27 March 1482.
