The farm lies in Asker municipality, southwest of Oslo, and has a history dating back to the Middle Ages. Skaugum originally belonged to the convent of Nonneseter and Mariakirken (Church of Mary) in Oslo, but since then it has changed hands several times.

Design and construction. Architect. Arnstein Arneberg. Norwegian royal family. Skaugum is an estate. Haakon VI of Norway and Mette-Marit lives there. [1] It is in Asker, Norway which is 19 kilometres (12 mi) away from Oslo. The estate is 1,215 acres (492 ha) big, [2] 480 acres (190 ha) of it are farms.
