George IV, né George Augustus Frederick à Londres le 12 août 1762 et mort le 26 juin 1830 au château de Windsor, est roi du Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et d'Irlande et de Hanovre du 29 janvier 1820 jusqu'à sa mort. Du fait de la maladie mentale de son père, le roi George III, George est prince-régent de 1811 à son accession au trône.
George IV, orig. George Augustus Frederick, (born Aug. 12, 1762, London, Eng.—died June 26, 1830, Windsor, Berkshire), King of the United Kingdom (1820–30) and king of Hanover (1820–30). The son of George III , he earned his father’s ill will by his extravagances and dissolute habits, contracting a secret marriage that was annulled by his father.
George IV was the eldest son of George III and Queen Charlotte. He ruled as Prince Regent from 1811 when his father's illness was judged to be permanent and acceded to the throne in 1820. Passionate about art, George's love of French furniture and works of art, and his prolific picture collecting, have given the Royal Collection some of its greatest treasures.
