August Wilhelm Antonius Neidhardt Graf von Gneisenau (Schildau, 27 oktober 1760 - Posen, 23 augustus 1831) was een Pruisisch militair en generaal. Op 8 juli 1815 werd hij door koning Willem I der Nederlanden geëerd met een Grootkruis in de Militaire Willems-Orde .

August Wilhelm von Gneisenau pochodził z Saksonii, z rodziny o tradycjach wojskowych.Jego ojciec, August Wilhelm Neidhardt był oficerem artylerii. Od 1769 roku wychowywany był przez jezuitów, od 1777 roku studiował filozofię na uniwersytecie w Erfurcie.
