Joan of Acre (April 1272 – 23 April 1307) was an English princess, a daughter of Edward I of England and Eleanor of Castile. The name "Acre" derives from her birthplace in the Holy Land while her parents were on a crusade.

20 de may. de 2024 · Joan was a daughter of Edward I and his queen Eleanor of Castile and was born at Acre in the spring of 1272. Marriage. On the 30th April 1290 Joan was married to Gilbert de Clare, 3rd Earl of Gloucester in Westminster Abbey. Burial. She died on 23rd April 1307 and was buried at Clare Priory in Suffolk.

The story of Joan of Acre is unique among medieval princesses. She seems to have been a woman of strong character, who refused to submit to her father. Due to her known relationship to her brother, Edward, she could have provided great support to him had she lived into his reign.
