Pat Smear was a comparative unknown in the early ‘90s, at least to grunge-loving teens tuned into the sounds emitting from the Pacific Northwest. But a phone call changed everything for the Los Angeles punk, largely off-radar since the dissolution of his first band, the Germs, in 1980.
