David "Clem" Clempson (born 5 September 1949) is an English rock guitarist who has played as a member in a number of bands including Colosseum and Humble Pie. Career. Clempson began his career in the late 1960s with the power trio, Bakerloo (originally The Bakerloo Blues Line), playing blues-rock.

Clem. Everyone calls me Clem, except for my mother, who calls me David. The nickname came from when I started school, in the Fifties. What I hated was when people used to put on record sleeves “Dave ‘Clem’ Clempson”. I don’t like that, I don’t mind being David Clempson, I don’t mind being Clem Clempson, but I don’t like both.

For the third album, The Grass Is Greener, released only in the United States in 1970, Dave “Clem” Clempson replaced James Litherland. Louis Cennamo then briefly replaced Tony Reeves on bass, but was replaced in turn by Mark Clarke within a month. Then Hiseman recruited vocalist Chris Farlowe to enable Clempson to concentrate on guitar.
