George Douglas, 1st Earl of Angus (1380–1403) was a Scottish nobleman and peer. Life. He was born at Tantallon Castle, East Lothian, Scotland. He was the natural-illegitimate son of William Douglas, 1st Earl of Douglas and Margaret Stewart, Dowager Countess of Mar & Countess of Angus and Lady Abernethy in her own right.

He was the first husband, (contract 24 May 1397), of Mary Stewart, daughter of King Robert Stewart III. Foundation for Medieval Genealogy. He was created 1st Earl of Angus on 9 April 1389.

An illicit affair between Margaret Stewart, Countess of Mar and Angus, and her brother in law, William Douglas, 1st Earl of Douglas (married to the sister of her husband), produced George Douglas, 1st Earl of Angus (c. 1380–1403).
George Douglas, Master of Angus (1469 – 9 September 1513) was a Scottish Nobleman. The son of Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus and Elizabeth Boyd, daughter of Robert Boyd, 1st Lord Boyd, he was born at Tantallon Castle and died at the Battle of Flodden.
The Earldom of Angus was held by the Marquesses of Douglas from 14 Jun 1633 to 10 Apr 1703, by the 1st and last Duke of Douglas from 10 Apr 1703 until his death on 21 Jul 1761, and has been held by the Dukes of Hamilton since that date.
