John Stanier is an American drummer who is best known for his work with alternative metal band Helmet. He currently plays in experimental rock band Battles and has previously performed with Tomahawk and The Mark of Cain, as well as performing on several releases as a studio musician.

24 de abr. de 2024 · Since Helmet’s initial late-’90s breakup, after which Hamilton eventually re-formed the band with a new lineup, John Stanier has moved on in a big way — going on to become one of the world’s most accomplished and respected drummers in the heavy/avant-garde rock cosmos, bringing his punishing minimalism to bands such as Battles and Tomahawk.
Are you kidding? The album retains all the brutality one would expect from Helmet, nestled within an eminently listenable context. “I consider half of this album to be a little more song-oriented than the last one, taking us a big step forward,” explains the band’s 28-year-old drummer John Stanier.
