I’m absolutely passionate about the 5th Duchess of Rutland [Elizabeth Manners]. She came from Castle Howard and married the 5th Duke in 1799 when she was about 19. She had 10 children, of which seven survived, and rebuilt the castle that exists today. She was a bit of an icon.
