Alonzo Barton Cornell (January 22, 1832 – October 15, 1904) was a New York politician and businessman who was the 27th governor of New York from 1880 to 1882.
ALONZO B. CORNELL, the thirtieth governor of New York, was born in Ithaca, New York on January 22, 1832. His education was attained at Ithaca Academy. As a teenager, he worked as a telegraph operator, and eventually became the vice president and director of the Western Union Telegraph Company.
