Rowan Ayers (16 June 1922 – 5 January 2008) was a British television producer and executive. He was best known as producer of BBC's Line-Up and Late Night Line-Up in the 1960s. He was the originator of BBCs influential late night rock music show The Old Grey Whistle Test and the long-running Points of View.

Rowan Ayers. Writer/Presenter/Producer. 15 June 1922 to 5 January 2008. A former assistant head of presentation at BBC television, Ayers’ biggest success was Late Night Line-Up (1964-73), a groundbreaking series that changed the face of arts broadcasting.

21 de sept. de 2014 · The Old Grey Whistle Test took over from Disco 2, which ran from September 1970 to July 1971. The programme was commissioned by Sir David Attenborough. The show was devised by producer Rowan Ayers, whose son was Kevin Ayers. The name was derived from a Tin Pan Alley phrase.
