Ælfgifu of York (fl. c. 970 – 1002) was the first wife of Æthelred the Unready, King of the English; as such, she was Queen of the English from their marriage in the 980s until her death in 1002. They had many children together, including Edmund Ironside.
23 de mar. de 2023 · Ælgifu (c. 963- February 1002), also known as Elgiva or Elffleda, was the daughter of Thored of Northumbria, Ealdorman of York and Hilda. She married Ethelred the Unready, King of England, son of Edgar 'the Peaceful' and Ælfthryth, between 980 and 985.

Ælfgifu was Queen of the English as wife of King Eadwig of England (r. 955–959) for a brief period of time until 957 or 958. What little is known of her comes primarily by way of Anglo-Saxon charters, possibly including a will, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle and hostile anecdotes in works of hagiography.
