Established in 1949 and gaining the title of a statutory university in 1950, Karnatak University is the second oldest university of Karnataka providing quality education over the years. There are 5 constituent colleges offering UG and PG courses in science, arts, commerce, fine arts, law and education.

Karnatak University, Dharwad (KUD) traces its roots back to 1 st March, 1950. It is the second oldest university of the state. The university has been recognized as “Potential of Excellence” by University Grants Commission. It has its campuses at Haveri, Belgaum, Dharwad, Bijapur and Gadag. It has 249 colleges, affiliated under it.
