As coffee was spreading throughout the world, it found its way to China, and a couple of cafes popped up around Shanghai—including Shengchang Cafe which, although not in its original form, still exists today.

Around 40,000 tons of green coffee are produced in China each year, which represents 0.05% of the global output. Currently, Yunnan produces 98 percent of all domestic coffee – that is 30,000 tons of Chinese green coffee beans each year, and that number is expected to grow significantly.
