I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University is the oldest leading medical university in Russia that has become a cradle of most medical schools and scientific societies of our country.
The university was founded in 1758 as medical faculty of Imperial Moscow University as the first medical school in Russia. The institution separated from the Moscow State University and became independent in 1930. The university was renamed after Russian physiologist, Ivan Sechenov, in 1955.
The Faculty of Medicine is the oldest and largest faculty in the University. Today it is comprised of 45 chairs, teaching hospitals, and research laboratories. The Faculty of Medicine provides undergraduate education in General Medicine. Graduates receive the degree of Medical Doctor.
