Roger has written for, and played guitar, bass, and vocals in the band since 2007, using the stage persona of "Chubby Wombat Moonalice." In 2014 he formed a duo with Jason Crosby called the Doobie Decibel System. In 2015, The Doobie Brothers sued the band over the name.
The band is currently made up of ten musicians, and led by businessman Roger McNamee. Their eponymous debut album was recorded and released in 2009 and followed by a series of E.P.s named "Dave's Way," featuring mostly new material. [6]

I recently spoke with Roger McNamee about this formative expansion period for Moonalice, their experience of recording music together in their new configuration, and his thoughts on the new release model they’ve embraced.
Moonalice, the long-time San Francisco Bay Area improvisational band of masterfully skilled characters led by Roger McNamee, triumphantly played the starring role in the famed Bandshell at Golden Gate Park on December 18 at a celebratory event dubbed, “HOWL: A Collective Cathartic Release Under the Last Full Moon of 2021.”.
