John Smith Hurt (March 8, 1893 – November 2, 1966), known as Mississippi John Hurt, was an American country blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist. [3] Hurt was raised in Avalon, Mississippi and taught himself to play the guitar around the age of nine.
In collaboration with Mary Frances Hurt and with support from the Mississippi John Hurt Foundation, Draft, a creative production company, is currently producing a documentary on the life of a legend, Mississippi John Hurt.
