High Button Shoes is a 1947 musical with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Sammy Cahn and book by George Abbott and Stephen Longstreet. It was based on the semi-autobiographical 1946 novel The Sisters Liked Them Handsome by Stephen Longstreet .
When fast-talking conman Harrison Floy sets his sights on the quiet Longstreet family of suburban New Jersey, he sets in motion a series of comic misadventures, including dubious auto sales, bogus land schemes, and illegal football wagering.
Bonus tracks include Jack Everly's 1992 RCA recordings of the overtures to HIGH BUTTON SHOES and HAZEL FLAGG. The BLONDES tracks are the original versions heard in the 78 RPM and LP releases, not the alternate takes heard on the Sony CD edition.
