Princess Therese of Saxe-Altenburg (21 December 1836 – 9 November 1914) was a Princess of Saxe-Altenburg by birth and a Princess of Sweden and Norway as the wife of Prince August, Duke of Dalarna. She was known in Sweden as Teresia.
Biography. Therese was a daughter of Frederick, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg, and Duchess Charlotte Georgine of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, eldest daughter of Charles II, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. In 1809, she was on the list of possible brides for Napoleon, but on 12 October 1810 married the Bavarian crown prince Ludwig.

Born at Triesdorf Castle in Bavaria, she grew up in Munich where her father did his military service. Therese’s childhood was paved with tragedies.
