Helmut Köllen (2 March 1950 – 3 May 1977) was a West German bass and guitar player as well as a singer for the band Triumvirat.

1 de dic. de 2013 · While in the States in '75, a local Orlando, Florida TV station did a simulcast with an area Rock radio station of Triumvirat performing the Spartacus album. Around August of 1975, Helmut Koellen announced his intention to leave the band and start on a solo career.
Bassist-singer Pape left the band to get married. He was replaced by Helmut Köllen, a young guitarist-bassist-singer and Fritz's cousin. Köllen was already working with the band as a sound technician.

Helmut Köllen. German vocalist, guitarist, bassist and former race driver born 2 March 1950 in Cologne, Germany and died 3 May 1977 in Cologne, Germany from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Due to the great success in Germany, the band started to work in their second release that was called "Illusions on a Double Dimple", but during the recording Hans Pape left and Helmut Köllen (guitar, bass and vocals) took his place, and their most famous lineup was born.

After this album, Helmut Köllen left the band to start a solo career. Two years later, he died of carbon monoxide poisoning when he was in his car, in the garage, listening to his own compositions on the car's cassette player.
