Half Japanese is an American art punk band formed by brothers Jad and David Fair in 1974, after their family's relocation to Uniontown, Maryland. Half Japanese' original instrumentation included a small drum set, which they took turns playing; vocals; and an out-of-tune, distorted guitar.

22 de ene. de 2021 · Nirvana, Yo La Tengo, Teenage Fanclub, Sonic Youth, Velvet Monkeys, Gumball, Beat Happening and more have all taken cues from Half Japanese’s primitive and outré skronky rock. In 1993, Nirvana famously handpicked Half Japanese to open a handful of dates on their In Utero tour (more on that below).
