Had she worked under her maiden name, it is likely she would still be remembered, and talked about, today — because Katey (as she was known in her family) was the daughter of Charles and Catherine Dickens.

Catherine Elizabeth Macready Perugini was an English painter of the Victorian era and the daughter of Catherine Dickens and Charles Dickens. Born Catherine Dickens and nicknamed Kate or Katey, she was Charles Dickens' youngest surviving daughter, and according to her siblings her father's favourite child.

Her male peers, many of whom were considered less accomplished than she during their lifetimes, are still talked about today, including her friends Marcus Stone and Valentine Prinsep.
Kate Perugini. Kate was the daughter of Charles Dickens; first married to Charles Allston Collins (he died 1873); second marriage to the painter Charles Edward Perugini (1839-1913), an Italian-born friend of Lord Leighton. She modelled for Millais and other painters.
