Ermysted’s is an ancient grammar school, founded over 500 years ago. It was long believed to be William Ermysted who founded the school some time before his death in 1558 but research in 1948 revealed an earlier history, dating back to at least 1492 and possibly earlier to 1468.
Admissions Process. Ermysted’s Grammar School is a voluntary aided, selective grammar school for boys aged 11-18. As a parent/carer of a child of compulsory school age, you have a legal duty to make sure they receive full time education that is suitable for their age and ability.
