Perhaps most recognized for his long series of artistic collaborations with DJ Spinna and Masters at Work, Selan has played, sung live or recorded for a wide range of artists including Lenny Kravitz, David Byrne, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Pink, Jessica Simpson and Usher.
Selan is the recording name for multi-instrumentalist Selan Lerner, who grew-up in Queens, NYC ("Selan" is derivative of "Se-lah"; Hebrew for musical pause in the bible). By age 3 he'd taught himself to play the piano, and his parents of Trinidadian and Jewish heritage exposed him at an early age to classical/symphonic music, along with jazz.
