Lionel Hallam Tennyson, 3rd Baron Tennyson (7 November 1889 – 6 June 1951) was known principally as a first-class cricketer who captained Hampshire and England. He was the grandson of the poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson . Life. He was born in 1889. His father had recently become Governor of South Australia (later the Governor-General of Australia ).

Lionel Tennyson scored prolifically in his maiden first-class season for Hampshire, earning him a call-up for the MCC’s tour of South Africa later in the year. He was subsequently named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1914.
