  1. Yahiko Mishima (三島 弥彦, Mishima Yahiko, February 23, 1886 – February 1, 1954) was a Japanese track and field athlete who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics. Together with the marathon runner Shizo Kanakuri he was the first ever Olympic competitor for Japan.

  2. Biography. The son of the local police superintendent Yahiko Mishima studied law at the Tokyo Imperial University. At the time in Japan, his height of 175 cm made him suitable for various sports: he was captain in the baseball club, an ardent rower and skier, and also practiced judo, riding, sumo, and skating.
