Roy J. Bittan (born July 2, 1949) [citation needed] is an American musician best known as a long-time member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Nicknamed "The Professor", Bittan joined the E Street Band in 1974. He plays the piano, organ, accordion and synthesizers.

But his most enduring collaborator is Bruce Springsteen, with whom he’s played as a central member of his E Street Band since 1974.
Bittan is the only member of the E Street Band to have co-written Bruce Springsteen songs, with “Roll of the Dice” and “Real World” from Human Touch to his credit, as well as “Trouble in Paradise,” which was released on the Tracks box set.
