He was a skilled pilot who rose through the ranks accordingly, and he became especially well-known for shooting down dozens of V-1 flying bombs.

At dusk, Flight Lieutenant Remy van Lierde, a Belgian pilot with 3 Squadron RAF, shot down two V-1 flying bombs and shared a third over the Bexhill area on the coast of Sussex County in southern England, United Kingdom. Van Lierde would go on to shoot down 35 bombs during the V-1 assault.

  6. 23 de abr. de 2014 · He commanded Kamina Air Base in the Belgian Congo 1959-60, and in 1963 was on Staff of 7 Wing. In 1967 he commanded Chièvres Air Base, but retired as a Colonel on 1 January 1968. Remy van Lierde's victories in World War 2 were 6 destroyed, 1 damaged, 1 destroyed on ground, 35 and shared V-1s. He died at Lessines on 8 June 1990.
