Alexander Douglas Douglas-Hamilton, 16th Duke of Hamilton, 13th Duke of Brandon (born 31 March 1978), is a Scottish nobleman and the premier peer of Scotland.

12 de sept. de 2022 · As a mark of respect, part of the Royal Regalia, the Crown of Scotland, was placed on her coffin by Alexander Douglas-Hamilton, 16th Duke of Hamilton. The Duke of Hamilton is Hereditary Keeper of the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Hereditary Bearer of the Crown of Scotland.
In 1688, the Duke of Hamilton surrendered his previous titles, and they were reconferred on his second son, Lord Charles Hamilton, who became 2nd Earl of Selkirk, and who changed his surname to Douglas with a special remainder designed to prevent them becoming merged with the Dukedom.
