"Silken Thomas", briefly the 10th Earl of Kildare, was executed in Tyburn, London, at the age of 24, along with 5 of his paternal uncles, during the reign of Henry VIII. Thomas FitzGerald, 10th Earl of Kildare (1513 – 3 February 1537), also known as Silken Thomas ( Irish: Tomás an tSíoda ), was a leading figure in 16th-century Irish history .
When Thomas Fitzgerald was born in 1513, in London, England, his father, Gerald FitzGerald, was 26 and his mother, Elizabeth Zouche, was 29. He married Frances Fortescue of Saldon before December 1529, in Ireland. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He registered for military service in 1535.
