Vilém Kinský ze Vchynic byl příslušník bohaté šlechtické rodiny, luterán, se silnými přátelskými vztahy ke kurfiřtu saskému, spřízněný s nejbohatšími a nejvlivnějšími osobnostmi té doby. Díky sňatku s Alžbětou Trčkovou byl tak spřízněn s druhou nejbohatší šlechtickou rodinou v Čechách.
