Viridis Visconti (1354–1414) was an Italian noblewoman. Her marriage to Leopold III, Duke of Austria, Viridis was Duchess consort of Austria, Styria and Carinthia, she was also Countess consort of Tyrol.
The Visconti ruled over the extremely wealthy region of Lombardy, and the bride’s father Bernabò was involved in numerous conflicts with the pope and thus on the lookout for allies in the Holy Roman Empire.

Born around 1354 into the ruling family of Milan, Virida Visconti was one of seven children of Bernabo Visconti and Beatrice della Scala. She became duchess of Austria on her marriage about age 14 to the Austrian prince Leopold von Habsburg (later Leopold III), also 14.

Ernest was the third son of Duke Leopold III, the founder of the Leopoldine line of the Habsburgs, and Viridis Visconti. After the early death of his father – Ernest was twelve years old at the time – he was initially placed under the guardianship of his eldest brother William.
