The Chernobyl disaster began on 26 April 1986 with the explosion of the No. 4 reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant near the city of Pripyat in the north of the Ukrainian SSR, close to the border with the Byelorussian SSR, in the Soviet Union.
El accidente de Chernóbil 1 fue un accidente nuclear ocurrido el sábado 26 de abril de 1986 en la central nuclear Vladímir Ilich Lenin ubicada en el norte de Ucrania, que en ese momento pertenecía a la Unión Soviética, a 2,7 km de la ciudad de Prípiat, a 18 km de la ciudad de Chernóbil y a 17 km de la frontera con Bielorrusia.
