Vanessa Bell (née Stephen; 30 May 1879 – 7 April 1961) was an English painter and interior designer, a member of the Bloomsbury Group and the sister of Virginia Woolf (née Stephen).
Vanessa Bell (1879–1961) Tate. (Born London, 30 May 1879; died Firle, Sussex, 7 April 1961). British painter and designer. She married Clive Bell in 1907 and like him and her sister, Virginia Woolf, was a central figure of the Bloomsbury Group.
Bucking traditional English mores, Bell created a distinctly modern oeuvre that ranged over still lifes, landscapes, interiors, and abstract paintings as well as decorative arts such as textiles, pottery, and furniture.

Bell was born into a Victorian upper-middle-class literary family, daughter of literary critic Sir Leslie.
