Beatus Rhenanus, de son vrai nom Beat Bild, né le 22 août 1485 à Sélestat (à l'époque ville libre d'Empire), et mort le 20 juillet 1547 à Strasbourg, est un philologue, éditeur d'auteurs antiques et écrivain humaniste.
La Biblioteca Humanista de Sélestat contiene una vasta colección de manuscritos y libros antiguos –que atrae a investigadores de toda Europa y del mundo– procedentes principalmente de la biblioteca parroquial y de la biblioteca personal de Beatus Rhenanus que la donó a su ciudad natal.

Beatus Rhenanus (August 22, 1485 - July 20, 1547), was a German humanist, religious reformer, and classical scholar. Educated at the famous Latin school in Schlettstadt, which produced a number of prominent scholars, and at the University of Paris, he became a dedicated scholar of the ancient classics and of German history.
