Beatus Rhenanus (August 22, 1485 - July 20, 1547), was a German humanist, religious reformer, and classical scholar. Educated at the famous Latin school in Schlettstadt, which produced a number of prominent scholars, and at the University of Paris, he became a dedicated scholar of the ancient classics and of German history.
Beatus Rhenanus Library. The Beatus Rhenanus Library holds print materials as well as a number of manuscripts. Using a dense and extensive network, Rhenanus amassed the works from across Europe which now constitute this collection.
In the early sixteenth century, the humanist Beatus Rhenanus (1485–1547) composed his multi-volume work on German institutions and customs.
It is also of interest that Beatus Rhenanus knew Roma triumphans at the time when he was a consulting editor for the printing firm of Johannes Froben at Basel (1511-1528), and engaged with humanist and classical texts,
