En 1945 Gabriela Mistral recibió el Premio Nobel de Literatura (fue la primera concesión a una escritora en lengua española) y en 1951 el Premio Nacional de Literatura de Chile. Siguió su carrera diplomática y con ella sus numerosos viajes hasta su fallecimiento en Nueva York, en 1957.
Gabriela Mistral, seudónimo de Lucila Godoy Alcayaga [2] (Vicuña, 7 de abril de 1889-Nueva York, 10 de enero de 1957), [3] fue una poetisa, diplomática, profesora y pedagoga chilena. Por su trabajo poético, recibió el Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1945.
Además de Mireio, Mistral es autor de Calendal, Nerte, Lis isclo d’or ("Las Islas de Oro"), Lis oulivado ("Las olivadas"), El poema del Ródano, obras todas ellas que sirven para que se le considere el mayor de los escritores en lengua provenzal. [4] Mistral recibió el Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1904 junto a José de Echegaray.
