Biografía. Nació en Neustrelitz y fue hijo del Duque Adolfo Federico II de Mecklemburgo y su esposa la Princesa María de Mecklemburgo-Güstrow (1659-1701). 1 Su padre fundó el Ducado de Mecklemburgo-Strelitz en 1701 después de alcanzar un acuerdo con el Duque de Mecklemburgo-Schwerin .
Frederick III of Holstein-Gottorp (22 December 1597 – 10 August 1659) was a Duke of Holstein-Gottorp. He was the elder son of Duke Johann Adolf of Holstein-Gottorp and Princess Augusta of Denmark. His mother was a daughter of King Frederick II of Denmark. He had ambitious plans concerning the development of sea trade.
Frederick IV (18 October 1671 – 19 July 1702) was the reigning Duke of Holstein-Gottorp. He was born in Gottorf Castle as the elder son of Duke Christian Albert of Holstein-Gottorp and Princess Frederica Amalia of Denmark.
