Morgan Williams' good fortune was to marry Katherine Cromwell, the sister of Thomas Cromwell, long before the commencement of the latter's illustrious career as Henry VIII's great minister. In later life, Williams and his son would benefit financially from this relationship, receiving substantial landholdings confiscated from the church.

English: Sir Henry Williams (1537 – 1604), also known as Sir Henry Cromwell, the eldest son and heir of Sir Richard Williams (alias Cromwell) (c. 1510 – 1544) and Frances (c. 1520 – c. 1543), daughter of Thomas Murfyn (d. 1523) and his second wife, Elizabeth Donne, was the grandfather of the Protector, Oliver Cromwell.
