La maison de Lorraine est une maison autrefois souveraine remontant au moins au XI e siècle. Elle prit le nom de Lorraine avec Gérard d'Alsace (mort en 1070), fait duc de Lorraine par l'empereur germanique Henri III, après son frère Adalbert.

The House of Habsburg-Lorraine ( German: Haus Habsburg-Lothringen) originated from the marriage in 1736 of Francis III, Duke of Lorraine and Bar, and Maria Theresa of Austria, later successively Queen of Bohemia, Queen of Hungary, Queen of Croatia and Archduchess of Austria.
The former was won by House of Bourbon, putting an end to Habsburg rule in Spain. The latter, however, was won by Maria Theresa and led to the succession of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine ( German: Haus Habsburg-Lothringen) becoming the new main branch of the dynasty in the person of Maria Theresa's son, Joseph II.
La Casa de Lorena (en francés: Lorraine; en alemán: Lothringen) es una dinastía de la nobleza europea, fundada en el siglo XI por los condes de Metz y los condes de Alsacia, los hermanos Adalberto y Gerardo de Alsacia, quienes recibieron del emperador Enrique III el ducado de Lorena.
The House of Lorraine (German: Haus Lothringen) originated as a cadet branch of the House of Metz. It inherited the Duchy of Lorraine in 1473 after the death without a male heir of Nicholas I, Duke of Lorraine.
