Marie Louise (12 December 1791 – 17 December 1847) was an Austrian archduchess who reigned as Duchess of Parma from 11 April 1814 until her death in 1847. She was Napoleon 's second wife and as such Empress of the French and Queen of Italy from their marriage on 1 April 1810 until his abdication on 6 April 1814.

The Duchess of Parma. The Final act of the Congress of Vienna (9 June, 1815) (4) made her Duchess of Parma, which she ruled benevolently in the company of the Comte de Neipperg. Her son, who now bore the title of Duke of Reichstadt, remained in Vienna, where he died from tuberculosis in 1832.
Marie Louise had three children with Neipperg—while still technically married to Napoleon—and even made him prime minister of Parma. It wasn’t until Napoleon passed away in May 1821, however, that she was truly free to pursue her heart.
