The Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (German: Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg; SPSG) was founded by a treaty of 23 August 1994 between the German federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg as a public foundation following German reunification.
More than 30 palaces and gardens in Berlin and Brandenburg invite visitors to go on lively time travels back into the brilliant era of the Prussian kings and queens. Testimonies to the accomplished architecture and landscape gardening in Prussia, they have largely belonged to the UNESCO World Heritage since 1991.
Two stages of extension to the World Heritage Site, in 1992, and 1999 led to the incorporation of a larger area. The Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg, which administers the site, puts the area at 2,064 hectares.

Die Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten betreut und verwaltet mit etwa 550 Angestellten rund 30 Museumsschlösser und andere Museen, 800 Hektar denkmalgeschützte Parkanlagen, 100.000 Einzelkunstwerke, 150 Denkmäler und 300 bauliche Anlagen.
Sanssouci and its extensive gardens became a World Heritage Site in 1990 under the protection of UNESCO; in 1995, the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg was established to care for Sanssouci and the other former imperial palaces in and around Berlin.
It is the task of the Stiftung Preussische Schlösser und Gärten (Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation) Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG) to maintain these works of art and make them accessible to the public in a variety of ways.
