Carl Wigand Maximilian Jacobi (10 April 1775 – 18 May 1858) was a German psychiatrist . Biography. He was born in Düsseldorf, the son of philosopher Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi. He attended the universities of Jena, Göttingen, Erfurt, and Edinburgh, and for a period of time worked as a hospital aide in London.

Mai 1858 in Siegburg ), war ein deutscher Mediziner, Geheimer und Obermedizinalrat sowie Leiter der Provinzial-Heilanstalt Siegburg. Er gilt als einer der Begründer der modernen Irrenheilkunde ( Psychiatrie ).

Giovane studente a Jena, Gottinga, Edimburgo ed Erfurt, fu sostenitore di una riorganizzazione dei ricoveri per malati mentali con Vincenzo Chiarugi e Philippe Pinel .
