Shabaka Hutchings (born 1984) is a British jazz musician, composer and bandleader. He leads the band Shabaka and the Ancestors, and used to lead Sons of Kemet before its dissolution in 2022. [1] He was also a member of The Comet Is Coming, performing under the stage name King Shabaka.

Piye (once transliterated as Pankhy or Piankhi; [2] d. 714 BC) was an ancient Kushite king and founder of the Twenty-fifth Dynasty of Egypt, who ruled Egypt from 744–714 BC. [3] He ruled from the city of Napata, located deep in Nubia, modern-day Sudan .
Shabaka (reigned ca. 712-ca. 696 B.C.) was a Nubian king who established the Twenty-fifth Dynasty in Lower Egypt and thus became the first of the "Ethiopian" pharaohs. Shabaka succeeded his brother Piankhi as ruler of the Nubian kingdom of Kush in what is now northern Sudan.
