Reginald DesRoches (born April 30, 1967) is an American civil engineer who, as of July 1, 2022, serves as the president at Rice University. From 2020 until 2022, he served as provost of Rice.
Reginald DesRoches is Rice University’s eighth president. He also serves as a professor of civil and environmental engineering, and professor of mechanical engineering. As president, DesRoches is the chief executive officer of the university and its 8,600 plus students, eight schools and more than 900 faculty.

President DesRoches has been widely celebrated, of course, as the first African American to be named, first, provost and then president of Rice. But he also is the university’s first immigrant president. He was born April 20, 1967, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and came to New York City as a one-year-old with his parents.
