Die Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften Landshut (HAW oder HS Landshut) wurde 1978 als Fachhochschule Landshut gegründet. Der Name wurde im Jahr 2008 um Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften erweitert, seit 2012 wird der Begriff Fachhochschule nicht mehr verwendet.
