El objetivo es hacer un análisis de contexto del concepto de "ambiente" de la teoría humanística de Paterson y Zderad, usando el modelo de análisis de Meleis. Este concepto está presente y fundamenta la teoría y se concibe de forma subjetiva y trascendente.
Las teóricas que pertenecen a esta escuela son: Hildegard Peplau, Josephine Paterson, Loretta Zderad, Imogene King, Ida Orlando, Joyce Travelbee, Joan Riehl-Sisca y Ernestine Wiedenbach (10, p. 32; 2, p. 333), quienes introdujeron la subjetividad en el cuidado de enfermería.
